Jordi Renedo
Senior Engineer, AIBEL AS
System Engineering & Design, Material department
2011 - 2012Employed by the French Ministry of Foreign Trade, I have the task of developing a French foundry abroad. Specifically, doing a market study in the whole north of Europe in order to find new clients in the Petrochemical sector
· Market study over Petrochemical clients in the north of Europe
· Client’s research (Kompass engine, industrial supplies, chamber of commerce, organisations & associations, competition companies)
· Search and collect contact information on the Petrochemical sector
· Marketing (Range of alternatives, promotion of sales, marketing strategies, etc.)
· Improvements to save money (Compressor consumption; Propane consumption; Gmail vs. Outlook system, Trilux (kind of alcohol) consumption)
2011 - 2011TTZH - Tribologie & Hochtechnologie

Professional practice / “Diploma-Arbeit” - 6 months
- Title of the practice: Wear characterization of coatings using several test-rigs (Block-on-Ring, Pin-on-Disk, Fretting, Cavitation…)
- Content of the practice: Development and application of wear tests and optical analysing tools to characterize and classify materials and coatings intended for the use in different industrial applications

2009 - 2009Sulzer Innotec, Winterthur, CH Winterthur, Switzerland
Contract extension - 3 months
Area: Knowledge engineering. Areas of expertise:
- Cavitation test: Development of a cavitation test procedure to determine the main parameters of the cavitational wear. Calibration of the test and development of the analyse methodology. The aim of this test is to be able to analyse and compare the matrix-coating cohesion and the cavitation resistance on different materials. Used machines: Telsonic ultrasonic transducers,Julabo cooling system,3DProfilometry MicroProf® (Fries Research & Technology)
- Pyrometry: Calibration of different pyrometers and determination of their
characteristics. Evaluation of the emissivity versus temperature of several coatings by pyrometry to improve accuracy of temperature reading on the abradable test rig. Used machines: Kleiber High speed Infrared Thermometer, Solo oven, LoMat 4 bar torch propane flame
- Pump Coatings: Development of a new approach by an unique parameter: GWF (Global Wear Factor), which characterizes the wear resistance (Waterjet tests). Removing a multi-data report and facilitating the comprehension to the client
- Resistance to scuffing: Determine and classify the resistance of different materials and coatings to the scuffing (localized damage caused by the occurrence of solid-phase welding between sliding surfaces) and determine its friction coefficient by pin-on-disk tests. Includes the determination of volume loss by 3D-Profilometry. Some applications: Cylinders of ship engines (1 m diameter). Used machines: Pin-on-disk test developed in Sulzer with one HBM load cell
- Friction coefficient: Determine the friction coefficient of different materials and coatings by slididing Rack-foot wear test. Includes the determination of volume loss by 3D-Profilometry. Some applications: pieces that support residual nuclear container (placed inside swimming pools) in order to avoid the overturn
